This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing company as they embark on a journey to transform their technology and digital capability. They’re heavily investing in improving their technology and expanding the team, and this Senior IT Project Engineer is a new position created to support the next phase of their plans.

They’re looking for someone who is multi-skilled, commercially-minded, strategic and full of ideas. You’ll be helping to improve the company’s digital maturity across their people, processes, operation and systems – so whilst you’ll be technically-minded, it’s important you can also talk to non-technical people as you’ll help to review current systems and identify what needs to be implemented to ensure any change adds value and increases efficiency.

The projects you’ll be involved with will be quite broad - you won’t be expected to build all of the solutions hands-on, but you’ll need to know enough about the domains so you can shape the solutions and set out realistic plans. You’ll work cross-functionally to deliver a range of digital and technical initiatives and ensure they are accepted by the end users, so you will also get involved with training, handover and ongoing support where appropriate too.

The role in a nutshell:

  • Identifying opportunities and putting together a roadmap of technology and digital initiatives that support operational and commercial goals

  • Designing technology/process solutions and explaining the vision, goals and features for new initiatives to internal stakeholders

  • Defining, prioritising and communicating feature roadmaps and acceptance criteria

  • Delivering projects from concept to adoption through third parties and hands-on activity

  • Providing training to end users to ensure business acceptance

  • Acting as the point of escalation for any issues that arise

  • Championing agile working practices and supporting the CTO and management team in scoping and delivering the technology transformation

The skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience of IT infrastructure and networking, databases, Office 365

  • Experience of Agile delivery methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum

  • Involvement in all aspects of project lifecycle – you may have previously worked in a Project Management, Product Owner, Business Analyst or IT Project Engineer role previously

  • Able to understand complex problems and communicate them appropriately

  • Experience managing existing vendors and sourcing new vendors

  • Knowledge of analytics tools such as Google Analytics and PowerBI or basic data manipulation skills would be an advantage

  • Personality-wise we’re looking for someone who is pragmatic, honest, flexible, embraces innovation and a great communicator

You’ll be given the autonomy to define your working hours depending on your projects, so although the standard hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 5.30pm, these hours can be flexible. There will be occasional on-call and weekend work, but this will be compensated as paid overtime or time in lieu.

It’s expected you’ll work on-site for 2-3 days a week, but (assuming it’s desired!) you can work from home for the rest of the week. There will be occasional travel as part of the role, so a driving license is required.

The company offer an excellent benefits package including generous holiday allowance which increases with service, annual volunteering day, company discounts and perks, life cover, training and development opportunities and more.
