Reporting to the Chief Executive, with line responsibility for the Head of Retail and Ecommerce Manager.
The Director of Retail role will have a real opportunity to influence, steer and execute the strategy across the Retail Division, working cross-functionally with key departments and the Senior Management Team across the organisation for the purpose of maximising profitability to fund critical patient care.
Other aspects of the role will be to lead the Retail Division to achieve agreed targets for increased profitability through ownership of all P&L activities, developing a strategy for growth and identifying opportunity for further brand expansion through store and online development.
Be actively responsible for engaging and developing the retail leadership team to empower them to manage, develop and inspire their teams.
As well as maintain compliance with key legislation, hold responsibility for continuous improvement through identifying and implementing policy and practice to improve KPI achievement, quality control, customer satisfaction, divisional efficiencies, budgetary control, and success of the Retail Division overall.
Drive the growth of skills and talent within, giving the direction and leadership required to nurture and encourage commercial awareness and acumen.
Identify growth and new investment opportunities to ensure they can capitalise potential or emerging commercial and retail income streams.
You’ll be:
Degree level education or equivalent professional experience – Business management or marketing degree would be desirable
Extensive experience of working at a strategic planning level in a retail context. Charity or mixed product retail experience would be desirable
Proven track record of leadership of sales teams
Strong evidence of well-developed commercial acumen, and success
Substantial experience of managing multi-site operations
Substantial experience in planning, forecasting and budgeting
Advanced knowledge of modern retail practices and environment including on-line platforms. Experience of EPOS systems is desirable
Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen
Very strong analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels
People focused with the ability to develop and inspire teams and to deliver through others
Awareness of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in all aspects of work
Excellent interpersonal skills and used to working in a senior management team
Prior experience of engagement with community in a retail context would be desirable
Ability to travel between sites and to other locations
