A varied and interesting Data Analyst opportunity has arisen as a result of new growth within a large eCommerce company. This role supports a really important area within the business with plans to expand further in the near future.

As a key member within the IT team, you’ll work closely with the Systems Architect who coordinates the data between the back office applications and eCommerce platform, helping to provide secure and stable data feeds.

The key tasks and responsibilities in a nutshell:

  • Working closely with numerous stakeholders to help track, identify and resolve any issues with data validation, data errors and data integration between all front eCommerce systems and back office applications.

  • Advise on best practice for robust data management and assist with creating guidelines and data input processes

  • Evaluating data requirements for data transfer and web development projects in collaboration with the development and eCommerce teams

  • Support, diagnose and resolve server problems and help recommend solutions for server and storage system improvements

  • Continually look to improve processes: work to streamline existing data flow, working with the developers to build API solutions to facilitate internal and third-party supplier data requests

  • Monitor the system performance by completing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features, make recommendations for hardware/software and data storage improvements

  • Assist with any escalated system/data problems that come through via the ticketing system

The experience and skills we’re looking for:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in database management or analysis

  • A high level of knowledge and skill with: SQL (including MySQL), SSIS, Pentaho or similar, ETL tools, Excel, FTP/SFTP

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across different departments

  • Someone who is deadline and solution orientated with the ability to define simple solutions for complex issues

  • Excellent analytical skills and a passion for data

  • SQL accreditation is desirable

  • Experience of API solutions, Magento 1.9 or 2, or similar CMS platforms would be advantageous but not essential

Initially you’ll be working remotely due to Covid-19 restrictions, but longer term they envisage this role being carried out through a mixture of office and home working - if you’d prefer to be in the office though, that’s fine too. On this basis, the role might suit someone who lives slightly further afield, as long as you’d be happy to commute to Exeter.
