Being on the 2nd Line of the service desk, naturally you’ll be a point of escalation for 1st Line Engineers. If they're struggling to resolve something tricky, you’ll be around to takeover or lend a hand. You'll be someone the Junior members of staff can look up to and you'll inspire them to learn more and develop their skills.

As well as working closely with 1st Line Engineers, you’ll liaise with Field Engineers, providing them with valuable backup should they encounter any issues whilst out on site. You’ll be happy to jump in the company van and assist them in the field if it’s required, meaning you might help in a wide variety of different scenarios, from solving on-site infrastructure issues to refreshing out-dated hardware or even helping to set up a client’s new office, shop, or warehouse.

You’ll work closely with our Project Manager and the Sales & Marketing Team to help scope out projects, recommending long term solutions to client problems. When this is done, you’ll assist with the installation, implementation, and deployment of those recommendations, helping to see a project through from initial idea to completion.

In a nutshell you will be

  • Providing 2nd Line technical assistance to a range of businesses of different sizes, across different industries.

  • Acting as a point of escalation for 1st Line engineers, helping them with their understanding.

  • Assisting field engineers with your knowledge and experience and providing on-site support where required.

  • Researching and scoping a wide variety of projects and then putting them into play.

  • Microsoft 365

  • Virtualisation technologies such as HyperV and VMware

  • Network troubleshooting and diagnostics - DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAT, Routers, Switches etc.

Who you are

You’re someone who is up for a challenge, that wants to help a growing SME become a regional powerhouse, and progress in their own career at the same time.

You’ll be someone that has a solid understanding across the board in IT but is passionate to learn and develop more. You’ll be friendly and approachable, and happy to help colleagues at all levels. You’ll reach down the ladder and pull your 1st Line colleagues up whilst reaching upwards to grab the hand of those on the 3rd Line. This company is all about teamwork so you'll be a strong team player!
