Sarah began working in recruitment more than twenty years ago, after relocating from the South East to Exeter. As a ‘top performer’ who doesn’t like to be held back by convention, Sarah’s answer to not being able to find a senior position in a recruitment agency locally was to start her own! Sarah wanted to create an agency that was all about delivering top notch service, as well as a great place to work. Which is exactly what she did. Those two fundamentals still sit at the heart of everything she and the team does.
More than 12 years on, Sarah has built a great team around her and as a result, Sarah West Recruitment continues to go from strength to strength. In two years, the team grew by 200% and they're now excited for their other new addition to join them in the next few weeks.
In her spare time Sarah loves taking on some crazy sporting challenges, raising money for charity in the process. Last year she took on and completed her toughest yet - cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats. This to add to climbing Kilimanjaro, running the London Marathon, jumping out of a plane, cycling from London to Paris, swimming round the Scilly Islands, completing the Dart’s 10k swim and completing a number of triathlons – to name but a few of her achievements. This year, after promising not to tackle anything too challenging (we've kind of heard that before!), Sarah has 'only' signed up to do a little ten mile swim in the River Thames and taking on the Scilly Islands swim once again. Simples!
If you'd like to know more about Sarah and how she's got to where she is both personally and professionally, take a look at the article published in December's Grow Exeter magazine.
"I love what I do and I'm so thankful I went with my gut instinct to set up my own agency over 12 years ago.
“I still get a rush from every placement I make. It doesn’t matter if it’s working for the public or private sector, an established or start up organisation - I absolutely love my job!
"Having worked in the area Exeter and surrounding area for as long as I have, I've built up a significant network and have been lucky enough to work with a large number of local organisations too. Plus many standout people looking for work - many who I've since worked with as clients. It's been amazing to watch the South West go from strength to strength and it couldn't be a more exciting time to be someone looking for work or company looking to recruit."
