Firstly, it’s important to say that this is NOT a sales role. This is a newly created role as part of my client’s commitment to providing an exceptional service to their clients.
This is a role working for a reputable IT company who operate in the South West. This is a strategic/consultancy type role where your focus is on understanding the client’s organisation and working with them in the long term as the ‘expert’ who is able to lead on how to use technology in the most effective way, keep them up to date with changes in technology and ultimately help your clients make informed/cost effective choices in order they can achieve their business goals and stay ahead! The company provide a broad range of services and products, so you could find yourself in conversations around anything a business might need such as Microsoft Windows software and server operating systems, server hardware, Active Directory, Office 365, Backup solutions, Antivirus software, hosted telephony, virtualisation and security.
This role could suit someone who has previously been in a senior technical support/engineering role or maybe someone who has sold IT and wants to get away from sales and into a more consultancy/relationship orientated role. What is essential is that applicants can demonstrate a keen interest in technology, experienced in writing technical documentation, providing detailed client proposals and reporting on IT systems reviews. You will be able/excited to work with a varied client base, each with its own challenges and priorities, and thrive partnering with different stakeholders in different environments.
You will be based from the Exeter office but there will be regular travel to client sites for meetings – but we don’t envisage any overnight stays.
We are looking for someone warm, friendly and outgoing who can communicate well at all levels and hold an engaging conversation. Must be focused on getting the best outcomes, giving great advice and support. This person will also be process driven, coachable and have a ‘can do’ attitude.

Their customers are heavily reliant on the software to ensure their businesses runs effectively on a day to day basis, and you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring any issues are sorted out quickly and effectively so the customer is impacted as little as possible.
You’ll ideally have experience within a similar role providing technical support to clients. You’ll be a natural problem solver, with great attention to detail.
As well as having a great level of technical expertise, it’s really important you have an excellent telephone manner and are someone who always strives to provide the very best service. From time to time you’ll get involved with onboarding new customers, so you’ll be someone who enjoys building relationships and understands the value of great customer service.
