      What will the role involve?

    • As Finance Officer you’ll be working for a globally successful company who continue to go from strength to strength. You’ll be supporting the Head of Finance to prepare monthly management accounts, performance KPI’s, business reports and associated control procedures to the Strategic Board.

      You’ll also be responsible for the recording, management and reporting for other companies that sit within the Group.

      What will you do as Finance Officer?

      • You’ll be directly responsible for recording, managing and reporting on a portfolio of companies within the Group
      • Prepare monthly trial balance, profit & loss account, balance sheet, cashflow and variance analysis notes for the Head of Finance
      • Make sure that all the companies that are part of the Group operate within the financial control procedures. This includes making sure that monthly reconciliations and control balances are prepared and signed off
      • Work with the wider finance team to produce data and analysis that support the senior management team
      • Assist the Head of Finance and business stream managers with the annual budget and objective setting process
      • Work with business stream managers to provide KPI’s and financial support to ensure that budgeted targets are met (at a minimum) and provide a detailed full year reforecast
      • Monitor accounting and reporting developments and make recommendations to process change to ensure everything remains compliant
      • Update & maintain the fixed asset registers for each company in the Group calculating monthly depreciation and amortisation
      • Ensure compliance at all times with relevant regulatory bodies
      • Work with the Head of Finance and other team members to maintain and improve internal financial controls and ensure that procedures are appropriate and efficient
      • Work with team members to create and maintain a procedures manual for the Finance Team at head office

      What experience should you have?

      • Preferably AAT qualified / ACCA part qualified
      • Ability to prepare management accounts with excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
      • Good working knowledge of MS Office packages
      • The ability to work in an accurate, organised and structured way that others can follow
      • Experience of working on your own and as part of a team
      • Strong communication skills
      • Good sense of humour
      • A UK driving licence is required

      My client, who is based in the centre of Exeter are looking for a Paraplanner to join their team.  They are an independent company who mainly deal with high net worth clients.  The culture is very much one of “No Blame”, open and will see you working on a diverse portfolio for both new and existing clients.  It is not one that is focussed on the sales of products to its clients, but one where relationships are nurtured and long term.

      The role is full time with the standard working hours of 9.00am – 5.00pm, however there is flexibility for the exact hours worked.  You will work in a team of 5-6 people, and be expected to challenge when you believe there is a better way / option.

      L & D is also a part of this role where you will be expected to undertake an annual plan to allowed your CPD.

      Your role as Paraplanner will see you carrying out: 

      • Analysing of clients’ requirements, development of cash flow models and accurate recording of client data
      • Construction of financial planning solutions (investment, retirement, tax and estate planning) supported by the production of computer models and reports
      • Recommendations – preparation of letters and reports (liaising with administrators), taking full responsibility for the client file and back office IT records throughout the advice process
      • Reviews – preparation of client reviews, updating cash flow models, investment performance reviews and production of supporting reports, discussion documents and computer models
      • Relationship Building – liaison with clients by telephone, letter, email and attending meetings

      As a Paraplanner, we are looking for someone who has:

      • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to listen, empathise and build trust with confident private clients who are frequently successful in their field of endeavour
      • Diploma – Level 4 minimum
      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
      • Able to analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data with a view to diagnosing a challenge or opportunity and creating a suitable strategy for the client
      • Presenting solutions to Advisers and in some cases clients
      • Tactful, trustworthy, diplomatic and able to maintain confidentiality at all times
      • Ability to effectively use a variety of software (ie MS Office, CURO, Voyant, Finametrica)
      • Comfortable working on own initiative, setting and managing personal goals, directing workflow and managing often conflicting deadlines.
