We're looking for a Senior Developer who is looking to take the next step in their career. Joining a highly respected, successful and forward-thinking technology company based in Exeter - it’s a great place to work! The team are friendly and there's a strong feeling of collaboration. They've got some big, exciting projects in the pipeline for 2021, so they're searching for a Technical Development Leader who is going to take responsibility for the product delivery, lead the development team and help them to achieve their goals.

You'll be responsible for creating a technical vision and to help turn it into reality alongside the development team. You'll lead a small team of hard-working and skilled developers, helping to resolve any problems and remaining 'hands on' if you want to. Day to day you will have real input, driving continuous process improvement and keeping a commercial focus to ensure successful product delivery. You will oversee the technical aspects of the product road map, working closely with the Product Owner.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Overseeing the technical design and delivery of the product road map

  • Encouraging and maintaining high standards and implementing best practices

  • Ensuring that the teams and resources are allocated optimally across the development side of the business

  • Creating and reporting on department budgets and performance

  • Mentoring and supporting personal development plans of the software development team

Skills and experience:

  • Several years of commercial experience in software development, ideally with experience of senior stakeholder management

  • Able to demonstrate strong PHP, MySQL & LAMP framework experience

  • Experience with cloud based software

  • Some previous experience managing/leading/coaching a software engineering team is desirable

  • Strong experience of modern Agile development methods

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: someone who is able to communicate effectively and efficiently with technical and non-technical colleagues, clients and partners

There's a very good benefits package including a discretionary bonus scheme, a generous holiday allowance, free parking and other benefits.

Please note: The company are looking to recruit immediately, so if you're interested or have any questions get in touch with Sky for an informal chat. During Covid-19 you'll be working remotely, but longer-term you'll need to work from the office for around 3 days a week so you'll need to be happy to commute to their Exeter office.
