A successful software company in Exeter are recruiting a Support Developer to join their passionate development team. It’s a varied role as you’ll be involved with ‘hands on’ development, working from support tickets across multiple clients.

This position has a little more client contact than a typical Developer role as you’ll be updating tickets (but this is mainly though JIRA) and attending service reviews with other members of the team. You’ll be someone with a proactive, positive and can-do approach as you’ll be engaging with clients directly, investigating the root causes of any issues that arise and proposing appropriate solutions.

Your responsibilities as the Support Developer:

  • Delivering high quality software for multiple projects and proactive ownership of related technical tasks

  • Ensuring issues are logged and responded to in line with SLA’s and ensure clients are kept up to date regularly

  • Provide input into technical hygiene plans and system roadmaps for clients

  • Carry out health checks or maturity assessments when required

  • Proactively identify and resolve issues and spot opportunities where clients would benefit from additional services

Experience you’ll need for this role:

  • Previous development experience using modern Microsoft and Windows technologies including C#.NET, ASP.NET, SQL Server, Reporting Services, MVC and JavaScript.

  • Brilliant organisation and time-management skills, and able to switch tasks easily

  • Strong communication skills and ability to talk to technical and non-technical clients - over the phone, in person and via email

  • Experience working with call handling and tracking software

  • Relevant Microsoft qualifications are a bonus, but not essential

Although the company are based in Exeter, they’re open to candidates from across the UK as they offer remote working and this will continue long-term. There is a requirement that you’ll visit the office for big company events or meetings, which they estimate will be around once a month.

The company culture is brilliant - they really value their employees and make a conscious effort to ensure everyone is given opportunities to grow and develop, and encouraged to suggest ideas. They frequently promote from within, so there are genuine progression opportunities and they ensure everyone has the chance to work on different projects, so you'll be exposed to different challenges and technologies. It’s a dynamic, friendly and laid-back atmosphere and they offer a fantastic benefits package including flexible working, options to work from home, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, company pension scheme and other loyalty benefits.
