I am recruiting for a Strategic Project Manager for an international company, based on the outskirts of Exeter, They are not looking for someone from a specific industry, but what they are looking for is someone that has a B2B focus, with a commercial aspect and experienced in helping a business achieve its goals across the entire business for future success. Therefore, you will be familiar with working on projects and helping to improve processes for a diverse number or teams and departments; this could be the Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, E-Commerce, Operations and Marketing. Additionally, if you have an IT focus in your portfolio that would be a bonus.
The role will see you working on around 5 projects at any one time, they could be 3, 6 or 9 months (or longer), but of course, this is all dependent on the business needs so you will be someone who enjoys variety and grasps what the business and end users need. This will be where your great communication skills come into play to understand current processes, making connections between departments and ability to put yourself in the user’s shoes.
As mentioned, the company is international so you will be someone who relishes being exposed to a diverse portfolio, and making links between regional markets. Ensuring that the shared vision is achieved is essential, clarifying what is required from a project and getting the right people involved at the right stages is what you do!
Some projects will also require an element of UAT, along with the training of users, liaising with the IT and managing the process to “go live”.
Main aspects of your role as Strategic Project Manager:
Planning and managing projects to allow the business to achieve its strategic objectives
Define project scopes, goals and deliverables
Create schedule and project timeline
Improve processes
Build positive relationships with all teams and stakeholder
Define tasks and required resources
Track and manage project allocation resources and deliverables
Ensure documentation is up to date and clear
Identify and resolve issues and risks
Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs
Present to stakeholders on progress, problems and solutions
Evaluate and assess result of project.
Skills and experience that we are looking for in a Strategic Project Manager:
Experience of managing cross-functional projects (IT element would be a bonus)
Proactive and quickly grasp the business needs
Being able to process a range of complex information
Ability to deal with conflict
Great communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to prioritise own and others work, considering conflicting priorities
Experience / working understanding of UAT and training would be an advantage.
