We’re recruiting for an emerging technology company based on the outskirts of Exeter as they seek a Software Development Team Lead to help guide the team development efforts towards successful project delivery.

Working in a high-growth industry, and supporting some huge international clients on some really unique projects, it’s a brilliant place to work. Company culture is a big thing for them; they ensure each member of the team feels valued and listened to - ideas are welcomed and training is encouraged. It’s quite laid back and informal in the office, but for those who prefer to work from home there’s also long-term scope to do so too.

Your role as Software Development Team lead will involve:

  • Coaching, mentoring and providing technical leadership to the team

  • Maintaining high standards of software quality by establishing good practices and habits

  • Identifying and encouraging areas of growth and improvement within the team to allow everyone to progress

  • Helping to plan, design, develop, test and maintain applications built on WordPress technologies

  • Assisting with collecting and documenting user requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans

  • Preparing reporting, manuals and other relevant documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software

  • Designing, developing and unit testing applications

  • Taking part in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code

  • Working with colleagues in the migration of legacy applications to WordPress technologies

  • Resolving technical and applications problems and assessing opportunities for improvement

The skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Software Development and previous experience of leading a technical team

  • In depth experience with HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript

  • Experience with source control management systems and CI/CD environments

  • Confident with Agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum

  • Someone who is self-motivated and happy working independently and as part of a team

  • An excellent communicator - both internally and with external business stakeholders

  • Deployment and programming of WordPress would be beneficial

  • Experience with UI design and prototyping is advantageous but not essential

The company offer flexible hours, remote working, occasional opportunities to travel abroad, regular team socials and more.
