Plymouth – Onsite – Monday to Friday – 08.00-16.00

We are looking for a scheduler and Materials Controller to join this well established manufacturer. You will be joining a company that has been in business for over 25 years, winning several National awards during that time. They are hugely passionate about what they do, with a great reputation.

Even though the company now comprises of around 300 staff, they still hold all the same core values that they had when they first started out as a small business.

You will receive a competitive salary of £30-£35k, plus great company benefits, including; non-contributory pension scheme, with 5% employer contributions and 3% employee contributions, a cycle to work scheme, death in service insurance at 4x salary, and critical Illness insurance at 2x salary. The Materials Controller will create and maintain production schedules in order to ensure that Customer demand is achieved in the most efficient and cost effective way.

The ideal candidate will have a background in, or knowledge of materials supply and control. You will be used to liaising with suppliers, dealing with lead times, ordering of materials, and constantly reviewing and chasing deliveries. You will be competent in the use of excel and be able to update and maintain spreadsheets.


Other responsibilities will include;

  • Attending production meetings.

  • Daily check on material supply.

  • Review of the 4 week rolling Production plan for Material stock requirements, highlighting any changes that are required.

  • Place material orders with suppliers, to acquire materials in line with agreed procurement specifications eg - pricing, lead times etc to meet Production plan.

  • Maintain and build upon existing supplier relationships.

  • Produce weekly achievable and efficient production Schedule with correct volumes, and specific requirements.

  • Providing monthly reporting to the procurement team.

  • Creating weekly reports on Production activities and effectiveness.

  • Work effectively with the Warehouse manager and stock controller to ensure maximise warehouse storage and delivery schedules.

You will ideally have manufacturing and supply chain knowledge. You will have excellent attention detail, good numeracy skills and comfortable in dealing with data.
