I’m looking for an IT Field Engineer to join a reputable and successful company based in Exeter. The team are passionate about what they do and their commitment to providing a high quality service has resulted in them growing a very loyal client base. They’re very busy and could do with an extra pair of hands to keep up with the demand!

The majority of your time (around 85% normally, although this may be reduced during lockdown/when Covid restrictions are in place as onsite visits to clients are reduced) will be working onsite with a wide range of clients based across the South West. Your role is to evaluate the client’s site and technological set up against best practises and standards. Reporting to and working very closely with the broader technical team, you will identify areas of risk and misalignment to reduce reactive issues and risks.

For the rest of your time you’ll be office based and will help out the Service Desk team with remote support as required too.

Key responsibilities:

  • Regularly visit clients onsite to complete technical alignment visits in line with the company’s business model and strategies

  • Proactively manage around 20 client accounts, building strong relationships

  • Evaluate client’s technology opportunities and help provide recommendations for longer term planning and strategy so they get the most out of their technology

  • Help develop new standards and procedures to support a proactive service rather than reactive

  • Assist with client on-boarding, helping to produce robust and detailed handover documentation

  • Support the service desk team by helping to provide some service desk support

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Worked in 2nd Line IT Support role (or similar) for a minimum of 2 years’ with some on-site experience

  • Have experience with networks, Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, backup solutions, antivirus software, hosted telephony, virtualisation, and network security

  • Have a good understanding of Microsoft Windows software and server operating systems, printing, and network infrastructure

  • Problem-solving abilities across WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, switches and firewalls

  • Someone who thrives in a client-facing role

  • Exceptional communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with all staff, regardless of role/level of technical knowledge

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously

Please note: Due to the nature of the role and the amount of travel required you must have a full UK driving license and your own car and live within a commutable distance of the Exeter area.

The company are committed to personal development and offer a learning and development scheme with an opportunity to complete further IT qualifications. On top of this, you’ll also receive a car allowance and business mileage, a generous holiday allowance, free parking and more! As a growing business there are opportunities for career progression too.

If you’re interested and would like to find out more about the role, get in touch with Sky!
