We’re recruiting for a Head of Technical role within a successful, well-established technology company in Exeter. Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the IT strategy, helping to develop and implement policies, and ensuring clients receive the best service possible.
This role isn’t a day to day support or project role, although from time to time you’ll be called on as the final point of escalation for the service team, and you’ll work closely with the project team to make sure they are delivered to the highest standard.
Ultimately, this role will be a real driver for change and improvement as you’ll help to research and push forward new technologies to allow the company to increase their product offering to clients. You’ll be someone who has strong technical experience, and is able to spot opportunities – liaising with the sales and marketing team to make sure campaigns align.

Your role as Head of Technology will include:
Identifying and assessing products and services that the company can add to their strategic offering to clients, improve user effectiveness and drive innovation
Providing input and tactical direction to the business on customer service and support challenges
Formulating technology training policies and developing training and development programmes for staff members as required
Working closely with the wider team and technology partners to providing expertise and support during system upgrades, installations and troubleshooting
Overseeing systems enhancements and the integration of new systems with existing ones
Coordinator vendor services and maintain positive relations with partners
Attending conferences, seminars and training sessions as required
Skills and experience we're looking for:
Around 7 years+ experience either working within a number of different sectors, or someone who has worked for an MSP
Experience in Networks, Office 365, Azure, Virtualisation, Backup solutions and Security software.
Someone who has worked on a variety of implementation projects
Previous experience working with external software and hardware suppliers
Microsoft certifications are desirable
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Effective prioritisation skills including the ability to juggle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities and work under pressure to tight timescales
A good listener with the ability to coach, coax, mentor and persuade all types of staff and customers at all levels of seniority
Please note: Due to Covid-19, the company are working remotely and will likely continue to do so until next Summer. They anticipate they’ll continue a part-home/part-office working set up long-er term.
