​Join a fast-growing leader in the civil engineering and construction industry as their first Head of People. With a workforce of about 200 employees and a trajectory of rapid expansion, they are looking for a strategic and experienced professional, who can also manage the day-to-day aspects of HR, to join the senior leadership team and drive forward a people-centric culture and initiatives.

Location: Predominantly at Head Office/Newton Abbot with some hybrid working.

The Head of People will shape the company's future success by promoting a people-first approach and leading transformational change. The successful candidate will be responsible for evolving recruitment and onboarding processes, career development, ensuring compliance across all operations, leading strategic workforce planning in line with the company's growth ambitions and project work such as reviewing compensation and benefits and reviewing HR technology, workforce insights etc. There's longer-term potential to build a People Team.

Essential Criteria

• Experience in HR at a senior level.

• Proven track record in managing change within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment of a similar size.

• Willingness to perform tactical tasks on the ground in addition to leading on strategic HR.

• Willingness to travel to group sites as required.

• We are seeking candidates with a background in sectors such as civil engineering, construction, or other related industries such as manufacturing, utilities, oil/gas, infrastructure, logistics etc that encompass a broad spectrum of employee roles, from site to office-based positions. Applicants should have experience managing and integrating diverse workforce needs, demonstrating an ability to adapt and apply their skills across varying operational environments
